Sun light can cause interference with the safety sensors, this will cause the operator to act as if the sensors are blocked.
A good way to determine if you are experiencing a sensor issue, hold your wall button down until the door completely shuts.
FOR LIFT-MASTER OPENERS:
The door will open but will not close and the lights blink 10 times when trying to close. This is caused by sun light shining into the receiving sensor (the one with the green LED). The Sun blocks the infrared light from the sending eye (amber LED).
FOR GENIE OPENERS:
The door will open but will not close and the lights blink 10 times when trying to close. This is caused by sun light shining into the receiving sensor (the one with the green LED). The Sun blocks the infrared light from the sending eye (Red LED).
One way to resolve this is to switch the sides of the door that the sensors are installed on. Please call Lodi Garage Doors & More to schedule a time for our technician to come to the residence to switch them. 602-269-0888
Another option is to adhere a sunscreen to the sensor. We would be happy to sell you a pair but a better more frugal option is to cut a toilet paper tube and attach it to the sensor as pictured here.
As always please feel free to give us a call at 602-269-0888 if you need assistance.
